My Tomi Bon Tomi story is not online yet. But this is about its long-term interruption:
One day in 2012, one simple thing happened to kick off a huge number of questions in me. I started researching – let’s say, this reality.
Soon the uncomfortable truth about so many things turned out so shocking that I suffered a heavy depression for about 3 weeks. I did manage to accept the truth eventually but at the same time I thought I’d never be able to laugh and joke about anything again.
(Note: Oddly enough, „Time Heals Everything“ (title #06 on the album mentioned below) appears to be a true statement – at least in my case. It took time. But I’m indeed capable of laughing and joking again. Even today, in April 2020. Despite – and maybe Because – the whole world feels like the movie „Idiocracy“.)
In 2014 I have finished an old project of mine – an album containing 14+1 songs. It was actually a complete re-recording plus lyrics to English translation of an album I had once recorded in Slovak language. Since the album was available online on iTunes (and all the others), the upload of the „rather similar“ material was causing numerous technical difficulties. One being, the english versions of the songs would be recognized by the CDDB database as the Slovak versions.
So I decided to pull down the Slovak Album version but this sacrifice did not change the problem. The CDDB seemed to be holding the data forever.
Eventually I had to add a bonus song to the new album and come up with a new artist name so that the whole thing would be recognized correctly by the CDDB. Until this day, if you just load the new album into your iTunes and delete the bonus song, the CDDB comes up with Slovak track names.
The specialty of this album is, the English lyrics are content-wise up to 80 – 85% identical with their Slovak versions and the track titles almost 95%.
Like mentioned, because of the database confusion I needed to come up with a new artist name. So I went with the strongest feeling I (still) had at that time. I was neither laughing, nor joking… I felt like Mr. „No More Jokes„. Or – after a little scramble work – JOMMO NOKES. So it sounded like an actual name.
